Good to know before you book

Everything you should know — before you pay, not after

We would rather tell you the whole picture now than have you wonder about it on the way to the base.

Transfer

Round-trip hotel transfer included — hotel → activity base → hotel.

Total time

Approximately 4–4.5 hours door to door, including transfers, briefings and the practice drive.

Off-road route

18 km of off-road driving on the private course. The rest of the programme is transfer and preparation.

Ages

Drivers are 16 or over and bring ID as proof of age. The adult fare starts at 11. Children aged 6–10 ride as passengers on the Quad Safari and the Family Buggy Safari. Under 6 cannot take part.

Driving licence

Not required: the safari runs on a private off-road course, not on public roads. The briefing and the practice drive are what you do need.

Information briefing

Included. The vehicle, the controls, the route and the rules — before the engines start.

Safety briefing

Included. Following the guide, safe distance, overtaking and stopping rules, what to do if something goes wrong.

Practice drive

Included. A supervised test drive before the main safari, and the guide's assessment of every driver.

Helmet

Included, and worn for the whole safari.

Goggles

Extra. Not in the base price — sold at the base.

Bandana

Extra. Not in the base price — sold at the base, or bring your own.

Insurance

Included where applicable under the operating policy.

Clothing

Wear clothes and shoes suitable for dust, dirt and possible mud. Closed shoes, not flip-flops.

Pickup time

Your exact hotel pickup time depends on your hotel and the day's route. It is earlier than your departure time and is confirmed with your booking.

Who should not join

Pregnancy, a heart condition or recent surgery: ask us first. Back or neck problems: ask us first too — the vehicle shakes. Nobody who has been drinking alcohol or taken drugs takes part, as a driver or as a passenger.

Family Buggy Safari

This is the same buggy safari — same private course, same transfer, same briefings, same practice drive — booked the way a family actually arrives: one adult at the wheel, a child beside them. The child rides as a passenger at the child fare, wears a helmet like everyone else, and gets the same water-splash stops as the grown-ups.

We do not pretend every child can join. Children aged 6–10 ride as passengers; children under 6 cannot take part; anyone aged 11 or over pays the adult fare; drivers are 16 or older with ID. The booking form has no under-6 tier and will not take a family safari without a child aged 6–10 in the party. It cannot know how old anyone is, though — ID is checked at the base as proof of age.

Door to door the day is approximately 4–4.5 hours, with 18 km of off-road driving inside it. The practice drive is where the adult driver shows the guide they are in control — and the guide decides who drives on the day.

Family Buggy Safari

A parent's questions about the seat beside the driver

The seat beside the driver

Your child's place is the buggy's own passenger seat: low down, inside the tubular frame you climb through to get in. The operator's rule for it is short — a passenger from six years old, securely belted. From there they get the same forest track, the same dust and the same water-splash stops you do, from lower than any car seat they have sat in.

Their hands have nothing to do, and that is the point: no second wheel, no pedals, nothing on that side to operate. The helmet is theirs as much as yours, included and worn for the whole safari. Goggles and a bandana are the two things sold at the base rather than carried in the fare, and the passenger sitting that low is usually the one who wants them. A size range for the helmets is not something we publish, so if your child is small for their age, ask us before you book.

Why it is the same buggy, not a smaller one

There is no junior machine here and no separate children's course. The Family Buggy Safari is a booking shape rather than a different vehicle: same automatic buggy, same private off-road course inland from Side, same guide in front, same round-trip hotel transfer. What changes is who sits in the second seat, and what that seat costs.

That has a consequence better weighed at the hotel than at the base. Your child does the whole programme, not a shortened version of it — approximately 4–4.5 hours door to door, with 18 km of off-road driving inside that, on ground that shakes, in dust and mud. A child who would rather be sitting in the shade after an hour is a child whose day this is not.

The practice drive is yours; your child watches it

Only drivers take the practice drive, so it belongs to the adult in the booking. Your child watches — which for a quietly unsure passenger is the most useful part of the day: they see the buggy move, hear it, watch a parent stop it, and can speak up at the base rather than halfway along a track.

The guide looks for the same things as on any departure: clean starts and stops, distance to the vehicle in front, coming off the speed where the ground asks for it, following the signals rather than your own plan. Carrying a child does not lower that bar — your child's ride depends on you clearing it, and the guide has the final say. If the guide decides you do not drive, what becomes of the child's seat is a question nothing here answers, and inventing an answer would be worse than saying so.

If your child changes their mind at the base

A child who is keen in the hotel lobby is not always keen with a helmet on, and the money side is worth knowing first. You pay on the day of the tour rather than online, and cancellation costs nothing up to 24 hours before the departure — so the inexpensive moment to change your mind is the evening before, not the morning at the base.

For a seat that goes unridden on the day we publish no policy, because there is none we could quote you. Tell the guide before the group sets off rather than after, and if this is a real worry, put it to us on WhatsApp before you book.

The age line, and what happens at eleven

A child aged 6–10 rides as a passenger at €{familyChild}. Under six cannot take part at all: there is no seat here we could honestly offer, at any price. From eleven the adult fare of €{familyAdult} applies although an eleven-year-old is still a passenger, because driving starts at sixteen, with ID. Two parents, a twelve-year-old and an eight-year-old is therefore three adult fares and one child fare.

And this product needs a child: at least one adult and at least one child aged 6–10 in the same booking is what makes it the family safari. A party without one books the Buggy Safari at €{buggyAdult} per person — same buggies, same course. How a group is spread across the vehicles is settled at the base with the guide, and no seat count per buggy is published here, so if you hope to put two children with one adult, settle it with us first.

Departures

Three departures a day, in season

Pick the slot that suits your day. The booking form shows only the departures that actually run on your date.

08:00

Morning departure

Cooler ground, softer light, the rest of the day still ahead of you.

11:00

Late-morning departure

A slower breakfast first, then the track — the middle-of-the-day slot.

13:00

Afternoon departure

The warm-air slot. Lower light towards the end of the ride.

The schedule follows the season

The schedule is set per season, so on some dates fewer than three departures run. We never show you a time you cannot book: the calendar reads the live schedule for the date you choose.

08:00, 11:00 and 13:00 are departure times — not your hotel pickup time

Your departure is when the activity is scheduled to start. Your hotel pickup happens earlier, and the exact minute depends on where your hotel sits on the transfer route and how the day is planned. We confirm your pickup time with your booking rather than printing one here that would be wrong for most hotels.

Transfer

Hotel pick-up & drop-off included

There is nothing to add for the transfer, no hidden fee and no meeting point to find. We collect you from your hotel, drive you to the activity base and bring you back.

Hotel → Activity base → Hotel

Your pickup time is confirmed with your booking — it depends on your hotel and the day's route, and it is always earlier than your departure time.

Every step, in order. Nothing in between is left for you to guess.

Total time

Approx. 4–4.5 hours

  2. Transfer to the base

Inland from the coast to the private off-road course.

  3. Arrival & registration

Check-in at the base. Drivers show ID as proof of age.

  7. Practice drive

A supervised test drive. The guide checks that every driver is in control before anyone reaches the main track.

  8. Off-road safari

An 18 km route: forest tracks, dust, mud and water-splash stops, at the group's pace.

  9. Showers & return transfer

Rinse off at the base if you like, then the transfer takes you back to your hotel.

Information briefing

You will know what you are doing before you do it

Part of every safari, for every guest. Not a formality — the reason first-timers and regulars end up on the same track.

  • The buggy — the wheel, the two pedals, and the seat beside the driver
  • The controls — throttle, brakes, steering
  • The route — where it goes and what the ground is like
  • Group organisation — who leads, who follows, where you stop
  • Activity rules — the few things that are not negotiable
  • Basic driving procedures — starting, stopping, turning, slowing
  • What to expect — dust, dirt, mud, water and noise

Safety briefing

Briefed first, then the track

Before the practice drive, a separate safety briefing. Clear, short and in plain language — the same for every group.

  1. Safety rules on the course
  2. Vehicle controls, including how to stop
  3. Following the guide — nobody overtakes the lead
  4. Safe distance to the vehicle in front
  5. Overtaking rules
  6. Stopping rules and where the group waits
  7. Emergency procedures — what to do and who to signal
  8. Appropriate speed for the ground and the group
  9. Group organisation on the track
  10. Protective equipment — the helmet stays on

Helmet included, and mandatory

A helmet is provided and worn for the whole safari. It is not optional and it is not an extra. Goggles and a bandana are the two optional equipment extras, sold at the base.

Reviewed before it is published

Every safety-related sentence on this site — ages, equipment, briefing, practice drive, insurance wording, who should not join — goes through a senior safety review before it goes live. That is an internal review, not a certificate, and we do not claim it as one.

Practice drive

You drive before you drive

Every driver takes a supervised practice drive before the main safari. It is how someone who has never driven off-road ends up confident on the track — and how the guide decides who is ready.

  1. Arrival
  2. Registration
  3. Information briefing
  4. Safety briefing
  5. Vehicle briefing
  6. Practice / test drive
  7. Guide assessment
  8. Main off-road safari

No experience needed — the practice drive is the experience

You do not need to have driven a buggy or a quad before. What you need is to complete the practice drive to the guide's satisfaction. The guide has the final say on the day; anyone who would rather not drive rides the same route as a passenger.

Equipment

Included and extra, side by side

This is the whole list. If something is not on it, it is not in the price.

Included in the price

  • Helmet
  • Your buggy for the safari
  • Information briefing
  • Safety briefing
  • Vehicle briefing and practice drive
  • Professional guidance on the route
  • Round-trip hotel transfer
  • Insurance, where applicable under the operating policy
  • Changing cabins and showers at the base

Extra — paid at the base

  • Goggles
  • Bandana
  • Food and drinks at the base
  • Photos and video by the base team

Extras are optional and paid at the base. We list them here so nothing surprises you on the day — not to sell them to you.

What should I wear?

Dress for dust, dirt and possible mud

Off-road driving means dust in the air, dirt on the track and water at the splash stops. Getting dirty is part of the experience, so dress for it.

The one-line version

Wear something you would happily hose down afterwards.

  • Old clothes you do not mind getting dirty
  • Comfortable outdoor clothing
  • Closed shoes — sports shoes are ideal
  • Dark colours rather than white
  • Spare clothes for after the showers, if you like
  • Sunglasses or your own bandana against the dust, if you have them

Flip-flops are not suitable for off-road driving.

Who can join?

Who rides the Family Buggy Safari — and what it does not offer

The adult at the wheel: 16 and over, with ID

One adult drives. Drivers must be 16 or older and bring ID — it is checked at the base as proof of age, not as a licence. The driver takes the briefings and the practice drive, and the guide has the final say on the day. No child drives here at any age: there is no junior vehicle and no children's course for one to drive on.

The child beside you: 6–10 at €18, adult fare from 11

A child aged 6–10 rides as a passenger beside an adult driver at €18, in a helmet included in the fare. From 11 the adult fare of €30 applies, even though an 11-year-old still rides as a passenger. Children under 6 cannot take part — there is no seat here we could honestly offer. And this safari sells no adults-only booking: it needs at least one adult and at least one child aged 6–10 together. A party without such a child books the Buggy Safari instead, at €30 per person.

FAQ

Do I need a driving licence?

No. The safari runs on a private off-road course, not on public roads, so no driving licence is required to take part. What is required is the briefing, the practice drive and the guide's go-ahead. Public-road driving is a different matter — and this safari never uses public roads.

Who should not join?

The vehicles shake, bounce and get wet. Please sit this one out, or ask us first, if any of these apply:

  • You are pregnant
  • You have a heart condition or recent surgery — and with back or neck trouble, ask us first: the vehicle shakes
  • You have been drinking alcohol or taken drugs — drivers and passengers alike
  • A child is under 6 — there is no seat we can honestly offer

Family Buggy Safari

Built around families — same course, real rules

The Family Buggy Safari is the buggy safari booked for a family. An adult drives; a child aged 6–10 rides beside them as a passenger at the child fare. Same private course, same transfer, same briefings, same practice drive.

We do not pretend every child can join. The rules below are the operator's own: the booking form has no under-6 tier at all and will not take a family safari without a child aged 6–10, and ages are checked at the base.

Family rules, in one place

  • At least one adult per booking, and the adult drives
  • Drivers are 16 or older, with ID as proof of age
  • Children aged 6–10 ride as passengers at €18
  • Anyone aged 11 or over pays the adult fare of €30
  • Children under 6 cannot take part
  • Helmets for everyone, the whole way

Seating

Tell us who is coming when you book — adults and children — and we confirm the vehicle arrangement with you. We do not publish a seats-per-buggy figure here because we would rather confirm your family's arrangement personally than print a number that might not fit your group.

Booking

Book your safari

Six short steps. You see the total before you confirm, and you pay on the day.

  • Round-trip hotel transfer from the Side resort zones is in every price.
  • No card details on this website, no booking fee, free cancellation up to 24 hours before.
  • Departure time, not pickup time. Your hotel pickup is earlier and is confirmed with your booking.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How much is the family buggy safari?

€30 per adult (11+) and €18 per child aged 6–10. At least one adult and one child per booking; transfer, helmet, briefings and the practice drive are included.

What is the Family Buggy Safari, exactly?

The buggy safari booked for a family: an adult drives and a child aged 6–10 rides beside them as a passenger at the child fare. At least one adult and one child per booking. Same course, transfer, briefings and practice drive as the Buggy Safari.

Can children ride on a quad?

Children aged 6–10 ride as passengers with an adult on the Quad Safari, at the child fare. Children cannot drive; drivers are 16 or over.

Do I need a driving licence?

No. The safari runs on a private off-road course, not on public roads, so no driving licence is required. Every driver does the briefings and a practice drive instead, and the guide has the final say.

How old do I have to be to drive?

16 or over. Bring ID — it is checked at the base as proof of age.

Is hotel transfer included?

Yes. Round-trip hotel transfer is included in every price: hotel → activity base → hotel, from Side, Kumköy, Evrenseki, Çolaklı, Titreyengöl, Sorgun, Kızılağaç, Gündoğdu and Kızılot.

How long does the whole thing take?

Approximately 4–4.5 hours door to door. That includes hotel pickup, the transfer, registration, the briefings, the practice drive, the off-road driving, breaks, and the transfer back.

How far do I actually drive?

18 km of off-road tracks on the private course. We give the drive as a distance rather than a time: how long 18 km takes depends on the group's pace, the conditions, the weather and the season — so we do not promise a minute count.

What time does the safari start?

There are up to three departures a day — 08:00, 11:00 and 13:00 — depending on the season. The booking form shows only the departures that run on your date.

Is 08:00 the time you pick me up from my hotel?

No. 08:00, 11:00 and 13:00 are departure times. Your hotel pickup is earlier, and the exact time depends on your hotel and the transfer route — we confirm it with your booking.

What happens before the safari starts?

Arrival, registration, an information briefing, a safety briefing, an explanation of the vehicle, a practice drive and the guide's assessment. Only then does the main off-road safari begin.

Are helmets included? What about goggles and bandanas?

The helmet is included and worn for the whole safari. Goggles and bandanas are not in the base price — they are sold at the base, or you can bring your own.

What should I wear?

Old clothes, comfortable outdoor clothing and closed shoes — sports shoes are ideal. Expect dust, dirt and possibly mud. Flip-flops are not suitable.

Do I need experience?

No. The briefings and the practice drive exist for exactly that reason. The guide checks that every driver is in control before the main safari, and anyone who would rather not drive rides the same route as a passenger.

How do I pay, and can I cancel?

You pay on the day of the tour — nothing is charged on this website and no card details are taken. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before your departure.
