Showers and changing cabins at the Side buggy safari base: what is there?

The base has changing cabins and showers, and both are included in every fare — honestly, that is the full list of facilities we can confirm. Food and drinks are sold at the base and paid there. Bring a spare set of clothes and a small towel; after 18 km of dust, mud and water-splash stops you will be glad of both.

Changing cabins and showers — included, and the whole confirmed list

Two facilities at the base are part of every fare: changing cabins and showers. Both are there for afterwards: once the driving is over you shower and change into dry clothes in a cabin before the return transfer. Nothing is charged for either.

That is where the confirmed list ends, and we keep it that way on purpose. This site publishes only what the operator's own records state, and those records name the changing cabins and the showers — nothing else. Lockers, a safe, a café or a waiting area are not on that list, so we do not describe them here.

If anything beyond the cabins and showers matters for your day, ask on WhatsApp before you book. An honest answer in advance beats a surprise at the base.

Why the shower is not a luxury on this safari

The course is a private off-road course inland from the Side coast: forest tracks and dirt roads, dust, mud, uneven ground, small stream crossings and water-splash stops. The 18 km route leaves its mark on clothes, hair and skin — how much depends on the day, and conditions are never the same twice.

So the showers are part of the programme, not an afterthought. Once the main off-road drive is over you rinse off, change into dry clothes in the cabin and travel back to your hotel clean rather than caked in dust. Allow for it within the approximately 4–4.5 hours door to door.

What to pack for after the showers

The facilities cover the washing; the drying and the dressing are up to you. We cannot confirm that towels or toiletries are provided, so bring your own and you will not have to wonder.

For the driving itself the rule is one line: old, dark clothes and closed shoes. The showers are why you can follow it without worrying about the rest of your day.

  • A complete change of clothes — the set you drive in can get dusty, dirty or muddy
  • A small towel of your own
  • Travel-size shower gel or shampoo, if you want more than water
  • A plastic bag for the wet and muddy clothes on the way back
  • Closed shoes for driving — and a dry pair to change into, if you like
  • As little of value as possible — see below

Food, drinks and the other things paid at the base

Food and drinks are sold at the base and are not in the fare; you pay for them on the spot. We publish no prices for them — the base sets them, and a figure here could be out of date by the time you arrive.

The same goes for the other extras: goggles and a bandana against the dust, sold at the base and optional, and photos and video by the base team, paid separately. The helmet is included and worn for the whole safari.

Valuables, phones and the things we do not claim

Because lockers and a safe are not on our confirmed list, plan as if they were not there. Leave jewellery and spare cash in the hotel safe and bring only what can go through dust and water — a phone in a sealed bag, the ID a driver shows at the base as proof of age (your passport, if that is the only ID you carry), and little else.

The base team take photos and video for a fee — one more reason to leave your own camera behind if you would rather not get it dusty.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Are the showers included in the price?

Yes. Changing cabins and showers at the base are included in every fare on all three safaris, along with the helmet, briefings, practice drive and round-trip hotel transfer.

Do I need to bring my own towel?

Bring one. We cannot confirm that towels are provided at the base, so a small towel of your own is the safe choice — along with a complete change of clothes.

Are there lockers or a safe for valuables?

Neither is on the list of facilities we can confirm, which is changing cabins and showers only. Leave valuables in the hotel safe and bring as little as possible; if it matters for your booking, ask on WhatsApp first.

Is there time to shower before the transfer back?

Yes — that is what the showers are for. After the off-road driving you shower and change at the base before the return transfer; it is part of the approximately 4–4.5 hours door to door.
